The general idea of the genocide occurring is pretty accurate, but I would avoid believing some of the events shown in the movie, just like any Hollywood movie; as the Rwandese government is actually questioning the validity of Paul Rusesebagina's( the guy whose story the movie is based on)claims of saving the victims of the genocide.
