Is it safe to travel by taxi from Southern Cross Station to Somerset Gordon Place Hotel late at night?

We are arriving at 11:35PM in Mebourne International Airport and we plan to get the Skybus Shuttle. But since its already very late, we can't get the hotel shuttle anymore in Southern Cross Station to our hotel. So can I get a taxi in Southern Cross? How safe is it? And how much will it cost if we have two large luggages in tow?

If you have other suggestions how we can get directly to the hotel we also would like to hear it.

you can get taxis from any trainstation in melbourne. it is generally very safe - melbourne is generally very safe.

I dont know how much it would cost... if your hotel is in the city, then not very much. The cost depends on the amount of kilometres between your destiniations.

No it is not safe at night particularly when you are alone. Airport taxi are safe and are equipped with cameras. If they arrive at 11.35 pm it will take about two hours to get cleared and may be more in case they have any foods or restricted goods with them
