What is the cheapest way to get from LGA airport to a downtown NYC hotel? What is the quickest way?

I've been to NYC only a few times and I tend to use cabs. Are there better options to get from LGA airport to a downtown hotel (assume the hotel doesn't have its own shuttle)?

train... or taxi....call around and get a professional car service... train/subway will be the cheapest, but also the longest. taxi is probably the most cost effective and fastest.... getting a professional car service will be the fastest and the most expensive.

It depends on where you want to go downtown. The M60 bus takes you to 125 and Lex (4,5.6 trains) then I guess you'd have to figure out where you're going downtown.

yea...the subway....2 dollars....it might not be that quick but u wont hit traffic.....u could take the M60 bus to 125 and then take the 4 train downtown and get off where u wanna go
