How can we check into a hotel without an adult, if we're minors?

My friend and I are taking a trip to San Francisco to look at colleges and stuff, but we're going alone. I'll be seventeen by then, about to be eighteen, and my friend will be sixteen (we're both Juniors though) about to be seventeen. We want to check into a hotel room because we don't want to deal with her uncle and staying at his place, but we're underage, so how can we check into the hotel without an adult?

Or you can have your parents do it.

Or you can ask a nice looking stranger to do it.......

Just have the adult check you in and you can check yourselves out.

have a valid ID and money of course... i'm sure they will let you...
