Why are hotel towels always so very absorbent but store bought towels are not?

I need really absorbent towels for my skin type as any tiny bit of moisture left on my body will almost certainly lead to thrush. I bought expensive Egyptian cotton towels that were useless, soft and plush but not absorbent at all. How can I tell the absorbency of a towel before I buy it? Ladies at bath shops have no idea. Hotel towels are always, always absorbent, even old, thin ones. Where can I buy these in different colours in Perth, Western Australia? Thank you.

Use a cup of white vinegar in the final rinse - they will be so absorbent.

Hotel towels are so absorbent because they've been washed like 1000 times. It's true. I work at a tanning salon and we use 2 different kinds of white towels. One kind to clean with and one kind that we leave in the rooms for customer use. The towels have been washed SO many times that the fluffy lint has been washed away and the more bare cotton is left. Our towels are SO absorbent that we can feel the moisture leaving our hands as we fold them. So, honestly, I say either wash the towels a bunch of times in a row, or let the washer run its course and the towels will become more absorbent over time. If you don't want to wait- wash the towels a bunch of times and use liquid fabric softener in the water- it will break down fibers faster. Also, plain, white towels have the most potential for maximum absorbency because the cotton has not been dyed or treated to retain dye (which can saturate cotton and minimize absorbency.) Don't use fabric softeners, which decrease the absorbency of the towels. For softness, use white vinegar in the fabric softener dispenser.

You can buy any towel from anywhere, but you have to wash it before you use it, also don't use fabric softener.

Hotel towels are very well used and the fibers are more broken down and therefore they are more absorbent.

Use dryer sheets instead of liquid fabric softener.

Liquid fabric softener absorbs in the fibers you want the water to.

Hotels use don't use it.

Your not suppose to use fabric softener when you dry your towels. That's what makes towels less absorbent.

sto buying cheap towels, if you buy the cheap ones they will suck.

ask the hotel where thye get their towels and get the same ones.

just take some hotel towels-dye to your liking
