How old do you have to be to rent a hotel room in New York City?

I live in the U.K and want to go and spend a few nights in New York City in a hotel. The only problem is im 19 and will be on my own. My question is how old must you be to spend a night in a hotel in New York? Im not sure if its 18 or 21. Also if anyone could send a link where you found your information from would be great.

Thank You in advance for any answers to this question.

It depends, a swank Motel probably would not ask you your age and take the cash. But I bet as long as you have a valid Credit Card , any Hotel will give you a room,

If Macualy Culkin can do it at the age of 6 so can you. All you need is to be the age of 18 and have a credit card. This will be all and good luck in the city.
