Will a hotel give you a room number if you show an ID proving that you are the spouse?

I want to go suprize my husband at his hotel out of town this weekend (no, he is not cheating, I just want to suprize him). I was wondering if anyone knows if they will give me his room number at the hotel. I don't want to ask him in the fear that it will ruin the suprize. Any insight?? Thanks in advance!

It really comes down to individual hotels and individual desk clerks and individual cleavage -yours

By rights a good hotel won't do it because a guests privacy is their most important concern.

Just because you guys have the same last name does not mean that you are married or if you are it doesn't mean that you are happily married and a hotel employee should never have to determine whether or not you are because it's not what they get paid for.

They get paid to provide great guest service which in this case means to your husband and not you.

It is entirely possible that you could flash some flesh and charm and get a newbie clerk to give you a room key

Be aware of the fact that if your husband doesn't like his surprise , he would be justified in seeking disciplinary action that could lead to dismissal against that newbie desk clerk and he could seek damages against the hotel.

Flash away Carla D * .It will be a sad day when a woman can't flash some flesh and have some newbie employee do her bidding while honestly believing that the flash may be worth losing his job over.

Phone the hotel and find out. I don't think they should but you never know.

Depends on the hotel. What I would do is march to the front counter and explain that you lost your room key. If they ask the room number, play dumb and dingy and say you can't remember, but can they look it up by last name. They will ask what the reservation is under and since you have the same last name...voila! Instant room key

emmm> surprise surprise. not i think?

NO....There is still that privacy issue. Hotels also don't want to run that risk that you could be "the wife surprising the mistress and husband". No matter how true your story is, hotels don't want that mess in their establishment

as long as your ID has the same last name as what he checked in as, yes,

My wife and I have flown different flights to places (me for work and she joined me later) and they gave her a key.

Probably not. They don't know that you're not in the middle of a divorce wanting to surprise him with .. something else.

More than likely they will even give you a key to his room if you can prove you're his spouse. Just tell them that you'd like to surprise your husband and they should be more than happy to help you!

Another way would be for you to call him when you know he's in the hotel and ask him what room he's in. Tell him you want to know what room he's in so you can call him back later on and not have to bother the desk staff. Most hotels need to confirm room number with last name when they connect you nowadays.

Good luck with your surprise!
