Do you have to be over 18 to book a hotel room?

My friend and I are going to France in August this year on our own. We are both 16, will we be able to book a hotel room for 2 nights, as i've heard you have to be over 18 to book any hotel?

When you book the room, online or by telephone, you will be asked for a credit card number as security. As you have to be 18 to hold a credit card, the answer is technically, yes..... However, as you can legally hold a bank debit card from a considerably younger age than 18, if you use this when booking, it will almost certainly be accepted. good luck, have a crackin' time.

Well 1st of all theres no way i would allow my 16year old to travel that far away you will only have just reached 16 a few months before you go and yes you do have to be minimum age of 18 to rent a hotel for a few nights i know if i had a hotel i would not allow 16yr olds in it unless with parents sorry to seem harsh but i cannot believe your parents are allowing this to happen with all that goes on around in this world at the moment but if you do go please take care and look out for each other always .

it depends on the hotel. Maybe you can get a parent to book the hotel for you and you can just check in. You could also check into hostels, they might be more lenient
