How do you react when you are almost certain the cleaner at the hotel you're in lifted a box of your coffee?

It's only $2 for a box of 10 sachets, but I believe it's the principle of the matter. Now, I did not see him take it, but there is no other plausible explanation. I had 5 unopened boxes, opened 1 at 4pm today and had a cup of coffee. Left the hotel at 5pm and instructed the cleaner to clean the room. When I come back at 7pm there are 4 sealed boxes. There is no way that open box grew legs and ran off.

From my own hotel cleaning experience I can honestly tell you that the cleaner isn't the only person who may enter your room while you're out. Porters, valets, mini-bar staff, cleaning supervisors, housemen, not to mention the engineers/maintenance staff and gardeners all enter throughout the day, so don't blame the poor cleaner for everything.

When you see him next, give him a box of coffee, and tell him that you appreciate everything that he's been doing for you.

Hopefully he has a conscience and at lease feels bad about it if he is the one that took it.

There are other people who have access to your room, bell hop, front desk people etc., so before pointing fingers please be sure that the accused is in fact guilty.

There is nothing worst than being falsely accused.

No,it didn't grow legs and run off but if you didn't actually see anyone take it, it cannot be proven and is more trouble than it is worth. It is too bad that people steal but I would just forget about it and consider it a lesson learned.

Maybe the policy is not to leave an opened box in the room. Better hotels alway leave the unopened and unused soaps, shampoos etc and take any that have been used or opened.

I agree with Jungle Bunny. It's unfair to automatically accuse the cleaner when there is an entire staff at the hotel.

Did you check your entire room to make sure you didn't set it down somewhere else?

Lock your luggage in the future. You had total control of the situation the whole time and did not take advantage of it.

The right thing to do is to report it to the manager. Otherwise they will never know they have a thief cleaner.

if that's all that was taken, consider yourself lucky.
