What hotel would you recommend I stay at when visiting San Diego?

Any ideas for a reasonably priced but decent hotel in San Diego?

Stay in the Downtown area, the Hard Rock Hotel, Ivy Hotel and Hotel Solamar are very trendy and new, with rooftop bars and pools with views of the bay and Coronado. You can take the ferry to Coronado and explore it, which is beautiful, rent a car one day and go to La Jolla and Del Mar.

Hotel del Coronado (in Coronado) and La Valencia are the classics, but are quite expensive.

I wouldn't recommend staying in Mission Valley, although there's lots of hotels around it. It's just that the area is just malls and chain restaurants...you're better off to a neighborhood with a bit more character, like Downtown, La Jolla or Coronado, unless BedBath and Beyond and Bennnigan's count as sightseeing.

It would help to know what part of SD you want to stay in and what "reasonably priced" means to you. For example $150/night at the Hilton in Torrey Pines would be a major bargaign, but that's not exactly budget accomodations. All the major hotel brands are represented in SD, so pick your favorite brand and book through their website....that's probably the best approach for you.

I've done quite a bit of traveling this summer in the US and Canada and used Priceline name-your-own-price bidding with great results. I put in bids for 2 1/2, 3 or 4 star properties and got rates at half or less of the listed price. And all the properties were fine or excellent...no "dogs" among them.

If you don't want to buy a room when you don't know the hotel in advance, there are a few properies for around a hundred a night that would work if you have a car wi

Hotel Del in Coronado. Very popular because it is so beautiful. sort of pricey and hard to get a room at times so book ahead. also anything in torrey pines or in mission valley is great. if you are looking for something reasonalbly prices check for rooms in the hotel circle in fashion valley

I think you can check the san diego hotels here http://hotels.americacheaphotels.com/City/San_Diego.htm
