If you're smart about it they won't find out. I do it all the time because it's cheaper.
U DONT GOTTA BE TOO SMART FOR THEM TO FIND OUT, AND YES IT IS USUALLY MORE EXPENSIVE THE MORE IN A ROOM. some OF these PEOPLE ARE WRONG with the responses.. just DONT MAKE IT OBVIOUS, by checking in with the people. or WALKING in front of THEM with more peole than u said right after check in..ITS BEST TO Kinda SNEAK the other people IN ANOTHER ENTRANCE, or just wait a few hours after youve checked in if there ONLY 1 entrance
i've never been to Vegas (yet) but most hotels rates are by double occs. even single rooms, so i don't think it would matter if u told them one or two. now on the flip side me and my friends stayed in a med. size hotel and we only told them two people but really there wee like 5 or 6 of us, we just used the side entrance.
While it is unethical (assuming there are different rates for 1 and 2 people, which varies depending on the hotel), in most cases nothing would happen. If you're planning on this, you'd be wise to be discrete, though. Only take one key, use the side door instead of coming right past the desk, don't make special requests that require an employee to come to your room, and if they have a complimentary breakfast, don't plan on both of youeating free.

Nothing. People book 4 to a room every day, and pay for 2 to a room.
Most likely nothing ... but it is possible to be kicked out since you tacitly agree to their terms and conditions when you sign the check in sheet.
Why not just tell them that there are going to be 2 people?
Hotels are based on double occupancy. I actually was planning a trip to vegas and the people that wanted a single package, not a double package got charged more per person.
Don't lie!!! You'll be paying for double occupancy anyway. Telling the truth will save you a lot in the long run. Enjoy your stay.
Rooms in Vegas are based on double occupancy, that means the rate you pay for a room is for 1 or 2 people. You would be better off letting the front desk know there are 2 people because if you get split up, your friend will not be able to get to the room, there are security stops usually before the hotel elevators that make sure you are a registered guest. Unless of course you are staying in some small motel, then go ahead and lie, it wont help matters.......
they wouldn't know. they have hundreds of guests, how can they monitor you and plus it's usually double occupancy so if you only have a guest, it will be ok. I've done it all the time.
You could explode or, nothing but most likely the first one, because we all know hotels are crazy and you souldn't mess with them
Yes, they could 'catch you' and could 'throw you out' of the hotel or motel at the time you are 'caught' ... and it's at least a 'misdemeanor' crime, if not a 'felony' depending on where you live. Tell the truth ... it may 'cost' a bit more 'going in' but will save you a lot more on your 'permanent record.'
There is no increase in price to add another person.
That being said nothing will happen to you unless something happens such as the cops get called, a fire, possibly a complaint, etc, etc. You are a guest at the hotel and therefore anyone you brought in would be your guest so you are legally responsible for them.
If they find out you have more than one person staying in the room when you said there would only be one person (namely you) they could kick you out of the hotel and refuse to give you your money back. You're better off paying the extra $10.00 or $20.00 for an extra person and not taking the chance. Even though they probably don't have an "Occupance Nazi" making sure there's only one person in your room, if they see you with someone else they'll know something is up.
In a large hotel you can get "lost in the crowd". In a smaller hotel, it can be more obvious though. I recently went to the Stratosphere and last minute another friend went with even though the reservation was for two. We had booked a double, so instead of paying extra for the friend we just had her valet the car and send the luggage up via the bellboy. That way she wasn't standing near the check-in desk making things obvious and there was no need to explain extra luggage. Then she just played some games while we got the room keys. If we would have mentioned the extra person, it would have been an extra $30 + tax per night and that's just ridiculous. The room is still the same size and the only thing they could possibly be charging for is an extra towel and that's definately not worth $30+. If you get caught, you can always say it's a friend staying elsewhere on the strip that got drunk and crashed in the room.
Long story short: Be slick about it if you're going to have more than two people in the room. fyi The cost for the room is the same whether there is one or two people in it. More guests than that? They do charge.
I highly doubt that you'll get caught...the worst that can happen is that they either kick you out or charge you more money.....but I bet if you play it cool, you'll be safe.....so don't even worry too much about it...they probably won't catch you....(ROTFLMAO)
