Is a hotel a good place to start job experience?

I'm looking to get a job this summer, and I live in an area where there are at least 4 or 5 hotels within walking/biking distance (I don't have a car). I'm 16 (will be 17 in June) and have never had a job before. From people who have worked in the hotel business, would it be a good or bad idea to apply and have a job in one of the hotels? What could I expect from working there in terms of jobs, hours, experience, or pay? Are there any other job options you would reccomed instead? (Please, no grocery store or fast food. Not an option for me.) Thank you.

I work in a hotel right now, in fact, i am at work. There are many good and bad things about it. Yes, there is room for advancement, and the pay is pretty good (depending on who you work for and what chain it is) I work the night shift at this hotel, so there isn't much going on. Sometimes it gets real busy during the evening hours, but expect to be busy at any job. You get to meet people from all over the country (especially our elderly who are traveling back home to florida) or sometimes all over the world. I remember my first day meeting a cheeky ole fellow from Ireland. All in all, it's a good business and way better than working at mcdonalds or walmart.

It's as good as any other job. When you turn 18 however then look into the below link.

If you enjoy talking to people then the below website will help you. The company pays daily. Just think of all the people that you know who do not have health insurance. You would own your own business. You can earn a very serious income, but you must be 18. It is mind boggling! Review the below site:
