Tokio Hotel Fans How long you think they will stay?

Do you think Tokio Hotel will be around for a long time, if so how many more years? I hope they don't get old like other bands do, I think they be around for many years to come still =)

I love my boys.

bill said he'd love to do music for the rest of his life, so as long as we support them i'm sure they'll keep going for a long time XD

:) Forever hopefully. but I have a feeling that eventually Bill will continue on his own, even if the rest of the band splits. (which ofcourse hopefully they never will) http://answers.yahoo.com/question/accuse_write?qid=20090129182816AAWkb2U&kid=AYJSBTfKL2jRZ2f7jixu&s=comm&date=2009-04-02+12%3A00%3A26&.crumb=

Priceline hotel bidding: Once you bid can you reject their offer or are you automatically locked in?

From the website, it seems fairly clear that once you bid, and if your bid is accepted, that you're credit card is immediately charged and you are "locked in" for that hotel. Just wanted to confirm that this is the case. Would also be interested in hearing if anyone else has had positive or negative experiences using priceline. Thanks.

Once your bid is accepted your credit card has already been charged, but you save a lot of money.

I'm going to Fort Lauderdale in a few days. I used Priceline and got a room at a Sheraton for 4 nights.

By booking direct with Sheraton.com I would have paid $1,038.96 USD.

By using Expedia.com I would have paid $913.51 USD.

By using Priceline's name your own price I got the room for $368.76 USD.

I always use Priceline, you save big ... but always book 1 star over what you really want, that way you won't be disappointed.

Why 1 star over what you really want?

A 3 star hotel that was built in 2008 kind of looks like a 4 star that was built in the 70s, and with Priceline you never know what you're going to get.

So the worst 4 star hotel is good enough for someone who was expecting a 3 star.

Best way to get from airport to hotel in waikiki?

We didn't rent a car or reserve any airport pickup service. What is the best and cheapest way to get from the airport to the hotel in the Waikiki area? Bus is out of the question because I hear there are luggage restrictions. Any tips on saving money will be greatly appreciated.

My grandma recently went to Waikiki, when I called the hotel to inquire about transportation I was told the best and most inexpensive route would be to take a shuttle from the airport. I was told the shuttle is about $9 where as a taxi would be $30, when you go outside the airport there is a special shuttle pick up area, that goes to all the hotels. If unsure call your hotel to see what they recommend and if they offer free shuttle pickup.

The only other transportation available is THE CAB. right outside the Baggage Claim, they are ready to take you anywhere on the island. I'm NOT going to say it's cheap. If you want "cheap" then WALK. It's free.

What hotel are you staying at? A good number of hotels offer that service for free...

You'd be surprised how easy it is to haggle a taxi driver outside of the airport for a verrry cheap amount...give it a go. Ask how much it is then be reasonable and throw a number at them

Hey, Diana!

We have used the shuttle buses from the airport to the hotels in Waikiki. No restrictions about luggage. It was $9.00 per person. Make sure you get the ticket for the pick-up at the end of your visit!

Hope you have a nice trip! ALooooha!

I live in Oahu and their pretty much one way to get their which is the highway but if u don't know your way then probably take a cab or tour vans. H1 town bound is the way u will be heading.

My husband and I have used Roberts van service several times. The buses are huge. They have lots of room for luggage, and they will stop at all hotels in the Waikiki area. For the cost, it is better than a taxi. . Only about approximately $20 round trip.

http://www.robertshawaii.com/about-us/company-profile.php

See if your hotel has a pickup service. Those normally are free of charge if you're checking into their hotel and don't have luggage restriction. Other than that, your only other option would be to catch a cab. Cabs are relatively inexpensive to/from the airport to Waikiki since it's not that far of a drive.

Happy travels!

Hi,

Once you get to the Honolulu Airport pick up a couple of "Free" local magazines Oahu Gold and 101 things to do on Oahu. The Oahu Gold will have a lot of tips on transportation to Waikiki, there is a less expensive way using a shuttle service that you'll find in the Oahu Gold. Or you can take a Taxi, it's not that far from the Airport to Waikikii.

For ways around the island take the "BUS", this is public transportation at it's best, you can catch "The BUS" at any location around Waikik. You can even purchase a 3, 5, or 7 day bus pass that will allow you to ride anytime any place. The "BUS" even stops just outside the Arizona Memorial and you can ride the bus all the way around the island.

Enjoy

Movie, bunch of people get stuck in hotel and it turns out the little boy is all of them. What's it called?

I can't remember the name of the movie where all these people get stuck in a hotel and they all end up dying but it turns out that they are just this one person's personalities. What's the name of this movie?

(Good movie that! especially when you realise at the end - all you saw in the movie was actually what was going on inside someone's head)

Do you have to be over 18 to book a hotel room?

My friend and I are going to France in August this year on our own. We are both 16, will we be able to book a hotel room for 2 nights, as i've heard you have to be over 18 to book any hotel?

When you book the room, online or by telephone, you will be asked for a credit card number as security. As you have to be 18 to hold a credit card, the answer is technically, yes..... However, as you can legally hold a bank debit card from a considerably younger age than 18, if you use this when booking, it will almost certainly be accepted. good luck, have a crackin' time.

Well 1st of all theres no way i would allow my 16year old to travel that far away you will only have just reached 16 a few months before you go and yes you do have to be minimum age of 18 to rent a hotel for a few nights i know if i had a hotel i would not allow 16yr olds in it unless with parents sorry to seem harsh but i cannot believe your parents are allowing this to happen with all that goes on around in this world at the moment but if you do go please take care and look out for each other always .

it depends on the hotel. Maybe you can get a parent to book the hotel for you and you can just check in. You could also check into hostels, they might be more lenient

What is the name of the hotel everyone stayed at on Laguna Beach when they went to Mexico?

I think it was the 1st or maybe second season when they all went to Mexico. What is the name of the hotel that they stayed at?

Haven't seen the show, but I have seen tons of shows (reality) that take vacations to Cancun and stay in the Melia.

It was a back lot at Universal Studios. You know that show is fake right?

What are the hotel standards for clean sheets?

We spend 2 nights at a hotel and changed rooms for the 3rd. I requested clean sheets and the manager on duty rudely denied my request as housekeeping was done for the night. I ask for clean sheets at 5:45 pm. The manager refused to help and I asked for my money to be refunded and she denied that as well. Is there anyone who knows if this would be against a health code or anything similar as I am planning to call the general manager of the hotel/casino.

i know they're "suppose" to clean the sheets and stuff, but i always heard to bring your own blankets and sheets to a hotel...there's always going to be those employees at all jobs who slack off and don't really care about doing things right

If you moved to a new room the bed linen should have been fresh. I hope you didn't sleep on sheets that had already been slept on by strangers. Hotels have housekeepers on duty 24/7. Someone should have been called to fill your request. If you get no satisfaction from the general manager, I would report this to the health department in the city you were in.

No clean sheets. That would mean a call the the health Dept and a different hotel for me

The bed in your second room, the one you spent the third night in should have had clean sheets on the bed. You have no idea who slept in that bed the night before and/or what happened in that room. If you want to take it further I would suggest you write to the hotel manager (not a duty manager) and ask for an explanation. This would NEVER have happened in any of the hotels that I've worked in!

Let it go. The effort it will take to correct it, will not be satisfactory and you will still be unhappy. Just tell everyone you know about it. Believe me, word does travel fast.

i used to work in a hotel, and we changed the sheets everyday, if someone checked out...if u were there for a couple days, then we did it every other day, unless there was a request, and if there was no matter what time u requested it, i would have to change it.....if it was past the time that housekeeping was there( 4pm) then the person that was working front desk would lock the office up and go change the sheets, or towels, or whatever was needed. if the request was made between 12am and 8am, for some one that checked in that day ( they would have everything clean when they checked in) they would have to wait untill morn, for the saftety of the front desk person if there was only one. ( there are crazy ppl out there)....health code, im not sure, but i would go above that persons head, and ask to speak to a main manager, or a supervior ( sorry my spelling sucks) or even an owner. you should be mad, i would be

I would go above the manager's head. Call the hotel's customer service line, and make sure to name names if you've got them. Tell them in detail what happened, and explain that cleanliness, or the lack thereof, will make or break that hotel's reputation. Tell them that you will be calling the local news in that area and filing a complaint with the health department, licensing board, etc. I personally would be infuriated if I had to sleep on dirty sheets in a hotel... I know that certain things are more likely to happen when i'm in a hotel with my dh if you know what I mean ;) This is unacceptable on the part of the hotel!!!!

Also, I would contest the charges on your card (most hotels require a credit card upon checkin, so I'm guessing you used one) if you don't get a HUGE apology and a refund within 2 weeks.

Is it worth buying the priceline Hotel Cancellation insurance?

I am planning a trip to chicago with the name your own price feature. I will be spending in the neiborhood of 480-640 for a hotel for 8 days.

If the amount is 500 or over, should I consider the $40 travel cancellation/interruption insurance? If I don't, I think I am stuck if I have to cancel for illness. Of course it is a vacation, so I would still go unless I had something devistating.

take it! it's always better to have it. Either you lose $40 now or possibly lose $500 later. As a travel agent I have seen far too many people turn this down and lose out when something unexpected comes up.

Yes.

Anytime you buy a non-refundable ticket or hotel upfront, please buy the insurance. Otherwise you are totally out of the money if anything happens.

If you don't want to buy the insurance, try Travelocity or Expedia where you don't purchase up front. Or even get on the actual hotel website. Sometimes you can get a better rate.

In addition to what the others have said.. READ the fine print before you purchase.. as getting a refund can be very difficult -- they have some VERY specific limitations and reasons for getting your money back.

How difficult is it being a Hotel Owner?

I'm considering the purchase of a hotel, and would like honest feedback from experienced people.

it's up to your quality procedures and hotel amenities.

unlike other businesses, a hotel's cashflow is dependent on its available rooms for occupancy-- which is also tied down with overnight stays. you have here a funny income ceiling on two counts, which is affected also by how people perceive the hotel's appeal as well as the service quality provided by its staff-- four negatives at this count. on the other hand, if you have modest expectations of the return on your investment, it's better than nothing. if you can obtain the hotel's financial records for the last 3 years (profit & loss, assets & liabilities), you can make a better decision on this. good luck

Is it best to bring along your own bedding when staying at a hotel?

I have heard so many things about hotel and motel bedding being not so clean. I have wondered if I should bring along my own bedding set and redress the bed with it.

I would say that it depends on the hotel and it might be a case of "you get what you pay for"

I worked in several 4/5 star hotels in the summer when I was a student and in all they sent out their laundry to a professional agency who laundered the sheets and it was a must that they were changed when a customer left.

However the dubious items can be the top cover on a bed (This is laundered considerably less) and the changing of matresses (this was never done according to other staff members.

So I guess it is a matter of choice if you want to bring it along, or you could just remove the top cover as (as long as you have a reasonable hotel) the sheets will be clean (you can see this and also will be ironed and straight)

When staying at a decent hotel which is obviously clean with fresh sheets etc, i just sleep easily in the bedding provided.

I have also travelled extensively staying in hostels and cheap backpacker accommodation. For this, I bought a pure silk sleeping bag thing (off ebay, really cheap). It takes up no room at all and creepy crawlies cannot get through the tight weave of the silk, so no bed bugs or mosquitos. Plus its really nice to sleep in, all slippery. It covers me from head to toe so i don't have to touch any part of the bed with my skin.

omgosh yea u definetly should. my health teacher told once he stayed at a hotel and there was pubic hair all over the sheets and bloods stains. obviously they don't change the sheets very often. i mean would you realy want to get pubic lice? better safe than sorry.

What is a nice reasonably priced hotel in Dallas?

My boyfriend and I are celebrating out anniversary and would like to go into Dallas and stay the night. I am trying to find a nice hotel that is reasonably priced preferably with a bigger room.

It depends on what you want to do...and what you consider reasonably priced.

If you want, arts, culture, theater, bars, clubs and restaurants, you want to stay in the uptown area....

If you want upscale shopping, Galleria area

If you want to take in a Mav's game...downtown area

If you want to go to Six Flags...Arlington area

Stockyards...Fort Worth

If you want to be close to everything within 20 minute driving distance...stay in Addison...Addison has great restaurants, bars and theaters...and hotels of all prices...it is a safe area and close to everything...right off of I-635, I-35, I-75 and the Tollway....

Addison has hotels for every budget...so maybe check it out online....

A good, medium priced hotel would be Crowne Plaza on Midway and Proton.

How do you check into a hotel that is booked online?

I am 16 but my friend who is checking into the hotel is 18. The only problem we are having is that i'm using my dad's debit card to pay for the room. would that be a problem? i can also prove that the card REALLY is my dads card.

That seems like it's going to be a problem. Most hotels will require the confirmation code AND the original credit card used to book the room.

I'd call the hotel first and ask them about their policies for this.

I have stayed at hotels hundreds of times and usually if you have the credit card or debit card it is enough. You, being 16, may have to show ID when checking in and you will not be able to use the ID with the credit card. As a veteran hotel person, I predict you will have a problem because of your age in this matter.

SOLUTION: Hold the room on the credit card. Bring travelers checks. Pay for the room with the travelers checks.

There are a number of challenges here:

1. You must be 18 to check into a hotel (because checking into a hotel constitutes a contract, and a legal contract is between adults only). If you friend checks into the hotel, fine.

2. Your name is not on the card. Legally, only the person's name on the card can make charges on the card.

3. Debit card -- BAD idea. When you check into a hotel, they authorize MORE THAN what the cost will be -- in case of any incidentals or in case of any damages, etc. Almost like leaving a cash deposit. So, if you room will cost $100, and including tax will be $113, the hotel probably authorize about $165 on the card. When you check out, they'll make the correct charge, but the bank statement will continue to say $165 for a few days (up to a week).

4. How did you book the room? On the actual website for the hotel (hilton.com or marriott.com etc) or through a third party (priceline.com or expedia.com)? If booked directly through the hotel, fine. Present the card at check in. (see above warning about debit cards!) If booked through a third party, then your Dad's card is already charged, and they will ask for a credit card at check in (again, and then authorize some funds - $25 - $50 per night, approx).

All in all, the easiest way to do this is to get your Dad to check you into the hotel. Or you can always pay cash. Bring enough cash for the room and tax (tax is always much higher for hotels because in addition to just normal state tax, there is also a local occupancy tax -- call the hotel if you're unsure). Also bring enough for at least a $50 cash deposit per night. They'll refund whatever you don't use upon check out.

If this is legitimate and your Dad is willingly paying for the room, he can also call the hotel directly and ask them to charge his card in advance.

You will have a problem because it is your dads debit card and he is not going to be there. They will want the original card plus just in case any extra charges happen they will want to card that card.Just have your dad call the hotel and explain everything and see what they say.Any extras can be paid in cash at checkout.

Well, you book it online, complete with payment, and arrive at the hotel in person and check in. If you're unsure, take a printout of the transaction along.

Your dad needs to check in if it is his credit card. Most places will not let you check in without ID and many places do not allow people under 21 to check in unless they pay an extra fee.

You only have to show them your print out confirmation.. im sure they will already have your record in their system. not to worry..

You can't.

just call the hotel.

I am looking to get a hotel room in the Detroit area for a really good price for Sunday. Anyone know any deals?

I met e great woman who has 4 children and works really hard at work and home. I will not be free on Valentine's Day (work) but want to spend some quality time alone with her on Sunday. I am looking for a nice hotel or motel for a great price. Money is a little tight but, I want to make her feel special. Anyone know a good one? Can be anywhere in Detroit or the area. Willing to drive for a deal.

How safe are hotel room safes, for keeping passports and money and other valuables?

I will be carrying a fair bit of money when I travel for the Christmas holidays. I am not keen on lugging around all the cash with me wherever I go, so I wanted to know if hotel safes are reliable, and also what about the hotel maids and staff etc... can they break into them?

Thanks.

(genuine answers pls).

Most hotels have security boxes for free at the front desk they are equal to those that banks have for your important papers and other items.

I would never leave cash or important papers in the room safe you never know who used it before and if it really works.

I would convert most of my cash to either American Express travelers checks or THomas cook depends where you will be traveling. In Europe and the middle east Thomas Cook.

In SE ASIA American Express.

The USA doesn't matter. If you get robbed or lose your cash in travelers checks you can get a refund make sure you keep the receipts separate from your wallet for the checks.

They have safe deposit boxes usually located behind the front desk area. The boxes require 2 keys. You keep one and the hotel has a generic one for all the boxes. The box can not be opened with out both keys. Do not loose the key they give you because 1) you will have to pay to get the lock re-keyed, 2) if you are in a rush and need what is in there, you will have to wait for the bx to be drilled out.

Which is the best all inclusive hotel to stay at in Cancun?

My 3 friends and I (4 guys) are planing on a trip to cancun in june 09. I stayed once at the cancun palace but I heard the oasis has more of a party flavor. However I read crappy reviews for Oasis. We want to stay in a decent hotel (nothing fancy) with a good party scene. Must be all inclusive though!

The deal with Oasis is this... It's the official spring break hotel of spring break year after year and everybody goes there for the partying. It's the best place to stay in Cancún for spring break, but ONLY for spring break. The reviews are right... because of being the party hotel for spring break over the years it has taken a beating. It's pretty run down from all the wild kids trashing it. The only time I recommend people stay at Oasis is during spring break other than that I wouldn't recommend it to stay. Any other time it's just a regular hotel like any other one in Cancún.

Now... the place I would recommend is a Riu hotel. There are three in Cancún... Riu Cancún, Riu Palace Las Americas, and Riu Caribe. Being that you are four single guys wanting to have fun and party I would recommend Riu Caribe. It's got a great atmosphere and it's a great hotel for guys wanting to have fun. It's about a five minute bus ride to all the popular clubs, shopping, and restaurants. They have a big beach (over 330 yrds. long) and a huge pool (125 yrds. long). Another good thing is that they have an entertainment staff called the Anamacion Team. It's their sole purpose to make sure you have a great time. During the day they do different activities such as pool/beach games. At night they put on shows and then after ward they take whomever wants to go out on the town to a different club every night. They are fun to hang with and get you into all the clubs with VIP access. Another good thing that I like about the Riu Caribe is that they have a 24 hr. sports bar. It's good because sometimes you want to come back from the clubs and contiue to party, but most hotels close their bars at 12 or 1 A.M., but not Riu Caribe... their sports bar is always open. They have sports on on all their flat screen tvs, they have a pool table, video games, internet, food, and of course they party up their and make all kinds of cool drinks. All the Rius are nice and all three are all-inclusive, but Riu Caribe is my favorite. Another good thing is that if you stay at a Riu you can go to the other ones and use the pool/beach, eat at the restaurants, hang out at the bars, etc. you just have to sleep at the one you booked. So, it's like getting three hotels for the price of one. OH... and something else you might like... they got some really cute (actually HOT is more like it... LOL) Latina girls that work there that are on the Anamacion Team. So, you will be able to party with them because they are the ones that take you out at night to all the clubs. All in all though definitely go with a Riu. I'll give you a few links to check out and see if you like it. If you have any questions about anything feel free to send me a message and I'll be able to help you out with whatever you need. Have fun and enjoy your time... Cancún is a blast!!!

Dont go to cancun without a passport (just some friendly advice) (idk if you're allowed to go w/o a passport anyway but watever). I went went i was in 3rd grade. I didn't have a passport cuz it expired. When we got to the airport they told us that we could use my birth certificate. When we got to cancun (5hrs later), they told us that my birth certificate was no good and ripped it in half!

Our entire trip was ruined, we spent an hour being interrogated cuz they thought we were trying to sneak in! Then, they sent us home with my torn birth certificate and we didn't get one penny of our money back! That was one sucky spring break

hope you have more fun then i did!

sry but idk wat hotel we were gonna stay at cuz we didnt even get out of the airport

I just returned last week from the Riu Palace Las Americas. This was our 5th time at this resort and our 10th time in Cancun. I would suggest the Riu Cancun, it is more of a party atmosphere with great food and lively nightlife.

RIU I loved it.

Can anyone tell me what hotel the Yankees stay at when they play the Baltimore Orioles ?

I want to take my 12 y/o son to a game in Baltimore when the Yankees are playing there. I would like to stay at the same hotel they stay at.

I believe alot of teams stay at the Sheraton Inner Harbor just down' the street from Camden Yards. I know that is where the Red Sox stay when they are in town.

It is a different location every time, for security reasons.

I want to see the yankees

The "No Tell" Motel. You and I both know Arod has a suite in that joint.

How early to rent a hotel?

I'm planning a senior trip to California with some friends and it's been planned for a little while. We're planning to go to the LA area for a few days at the end of June. My question is, how early do people usually make hotel reservations? I want to make sure everyone has enough time to get the amount I told them they'd need, but I don't want to miss out on good deals.

You could make them now. If you know your travel dates, you probably SHOULD make them now.

Hotels fill up around graduation time!

Most people make their reservations at least a couple months in advance, especially for popular periods in popular tourist areas. I would make the reservation ASAP, since you may find that your hotel is booked if you wait any longer.

You can reserve now but be sure to get deposits from everyone going. It will be against your credit.

I attend a very popular quilt week, I make my reservation for the following year, as I check out. One year ahead.

Make it as early as possible, and don't forget to ask for their "very best" rate.

What is the American equivalent of the UK's Premier Inn hotel chain?

I am looking to stay in New York later this year and was wanting to stay in a similar type of hotel to the Premier Inn hotels we have in the UK (i.e. Decent Quality and Decent Price).

Therefore, what is the US equivalent of a Premier Inn hotel?

Thanks for your help!

I don't know the Premier chain, but there are a few midrange chains that usually are somewhere around $100 per night -- Holiday Inn Express has always been good for me, but Hampton Inn/Fairfield Inn/Hilton Garden Inn also works pretty well.

http://www.tripadvisor.com

Tons of info and reviews on this site.

The Palace resorts are getting excellent reviews. Also the Rui resorts are popular. If you are a couple and want a couples only resort Le Blanc is rated #1

Do some research and if you have any more questions, come back and we'll try to help you.

Good luck and have some fun researching.

Well First what do you want out of a hotel.

All included means that your meals and drinks are included in the package.

Most hotels are very nice even the three star hotels.

You should ask in Expedia or other search agent for the Vacation package Air, Hotel and car. It is better to rent a car if traveling from the hotel to other spots. There are many things to do in cancun. Check out Island of Mujers costs about 42 dollars per person. You can get drunk on the boat and it includes a lunch, and time on the beach, even snorkeling if you like. The Xcaret is nice but expensive costs about 100 dollars from two people and this does not include snorkel rental or swim fins. That is additional. The park is very long to walk ,but beautiful. Nice place to see fish and turtles. For T-shirts and souvineers go to Mercado in down town. I think it is 49. I do not remember well. Just ask. T-shirts are about 5 dollars or less a piece. Many other things to pick from. It is a good experience: I was just there.

I would contact a professional travel agent. If you find a good agent then they can ask you various questions to determine which they feel is the best choice for you. To stay within your budget, needs/wants, location, amenities, room categories, etc.

I would read trip advisors if that makes you feel comfortable, but I would also take them with a grain of salt. Problems can happen with travel that are unavoidable and unfortunately some travelers allow this to ruin there entire stay. I mean if it is one that has "Nothing but complaints", probably not a good sign! Sometimes hotels will post for one another as well, sad but true.

That is again why I would work with an agent because we aren't bias on hotels, vendors, etc. Our goal is to get you what you want within your dates. Find a good enough agent and they know if it is a good price or not.

I have even down sold people over the years if I felt that it wasn't worth the money. Like any job there are the good, the bad and the ugly! You should be able to get an idea if the one you are talking to is knowledgeable because in my experience years in the business don’t make you good, you are either good or your not! Don't get me wrong you do need those years to get experience, but it doesn't automatically make one a good agent.

It's late and I'm sleepy so sorry for the lengthy post =)

Have a great trip and remember to book in advance as rates are based on availability.

I also go with price and location 1st. An all inclusive package is a great idea because you can eat and drink as much as you want, and go into all the shows, water sports and attarctions without spending more than you have since you already payed for everything in advance. Most 5 star hotels have this facility in Cancun. Go for it!

I typically choose based on lacation and price.

Look at maps of the area and check the beaches and the hotel amenities It is nice there but make sure you pick a hotel with a lot to do because maya is far away frm everything

What upscale restaurants are in walking distance to the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel by the zoo in D.C?

I'm trying to plan travel for my boss and he wants some upscale restaurant reservations withen walking distance to this hotel. I found some good restaurants, but they are 2 and 3 miles away. Any ideas?

There really isn't much in the way of *upscale* restaurants in this area- at least not in the sense of upscale to a person that has someone else make their reservations for them... I mean, nothing like Galileo or 1789 downtown. However, there are some good options:

Lebanese Taverna (Lebanese Food)

2641 Connecticut Ave NW, Washington, DC

(202) 265-8681

Tono Sushi

2605 Connecticut Ave NW, Washington, DC

(202) 332-7300

Little India

2623 Connecticut Ave NW

Washington, DC 20008

Taste of India

2621 Connecticut Ave NW, Washington, DC

(202) 483-1115

If they want something high end, and are willing to cab it (cabs in DC are extremely easy to find and fairly cheap)

Ruth's Chris Steakhouse

1801 Connecticut Ave NW, Washington, DC

(202) 797-0033

1789

1226 36th St NW, Washington, DC

(202) 965-178

Palena We recommend.

2007 Fall Dining Guide

Washington Post Magazine

*** (out of four)

The menu in the rear dining room reads like poetry. Diners learn that a salad of local beans is dressed with "a mortar-crushed dressing of almonds," while another appetizer uses "our own bacon" and an entree of Alaskan sablefish includes "just-dug blue potatoes." Then the actual food shows up, and you find yourself staring -- and admiring -- still lifes of fresh ingredients that have passed muster with one of the city's most discerning chefs, Frank Ruta. A salad of green and yellow beans is strewn with fragrant summer truffles and garnished with a petite pork croquette that pays homage to both pig and frying pan. The house-cured bacon appears in a free-form BLT that includes slender bundles of stuffed lettuce leaves and a brassy tomato paste -- diner food raised to glory. As for those purple potatoes, they're sliced on a plate of pan-roasted fish that falls easily at the touch of a knife and embraces parsley puree and tomato confit as bright platemates. Skipping dessert means missing out on some truly luscious endings (let the season dictate your choice), and you can drink as well as you eat (both the cocktail and the wine list are winners). What sounds like a four-star evening is brought down to earth by service that can be rushed and distracted, and a setting that looks a little tired in the light of early evening. Up front, on the other hand, a packed cafe reminds us that Ruta offers one of the premiere bar menus in the city. His salads, hamburger and roast chicken claim few equals.

Is the hotel breakers expensive to stay for 3 nights and how are the accommadations?

My husband and i are going to cedar point for the 4th of July weekend this year so we are trying to find out information about hotel breakers or any other inexpensive hotels around the park area.

I wouldn't say the Breakers is inexpensive. It is very nice but rooms will run you about $250-300 per night, maybe a little higher since it's a holiday. This is for a nice lake view suite. Probably get a standard room for about $200. You can also get a package that includes admission to park as well.

Here is a good site to check it out:

http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/park/resorts/hotels/hotel_breakers.cfm (click on check availability under reservations)

What is the best hotel on the ocean near San Diego/La Jolla?

I want to spend one night in a hotel enjoying the ocean somewhere near San Diego or La Jolla. I am going by myself and want to walk on the beach, sit and look out at the water, and probably do some spa stuff. Somewhere absolutely beautiful and perfectly relaxing. I don't care about price- I want the best place. Where should I go? Thanks!

The Lodge at Torrey Pines might be exactly what you are looking for. In Torrey Pines, which is the northern part of La Jolla.

A little north of there is the L'Auberge Resort and Spa. It is in Del Mar, but just over the line from Torrey Pines / San Diego.

They are both right by the beach and have spas. That part of the Torrey Pines / Del Mar beach is extremely beautiful and peaceful.

2 of my top choices would be Hotel Del Coronado on Coronado Island....a large sprawling resort in a great beach location in upscale Coronado or Pacific Terrace .....a small boutique hotel located right on the beach in the laid back community of Pacific Beach.

For a guide to beach hotels in San Diego go to: http://www.sandiego-romantics.com/san-diego-beach-hotels.html

You will find hotel information, pictures, and direct links to each of the hotels websites.

Have fun!

The grand del mar is beautiful! Here is a good place to search for a nice list of resorts in La Jolla, then call to see what they offer, views, attractions, etc to see what appeals to you! Have a great time!

I like the Catamaran Resort and Spa. Here is a list of San Diego hotels, most you can walk to the beach. http://www.socalthemeparks.com/sandiego-hotels.html

How much are you supposed to tip the maid in your hotel room?

I'm staying in a hotel room for five nights. Not real high end place, not a fleabag motel, just a typical $100 a night place. How much am I supposed to tip the maid when I leave?

I would leave 10 dollars. She/He would appreciate it no matter how much you leave.

Yea...right about that. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/accuse_write?qid=20080113082238AAOBQ9L&kid=Qs0tW2O0BTnOtRSGr2Mp7l1evrgLQwSzq2HwxJ0fOfarj5Ew44P1&s=comm&date=2008-01-14+17%3A37%3A01&.crumb=

6 dollars

This is quite interesting actually - going by the dollar sign I assume you are from wither the USA or Canada, and you seem to tip a lot more than we do in Ireland or the UK.

We only tip waiting staff in restaurants and hairdressers. No one else. I would never think of tipping a maid in a hotel?

$1.50 per day, per person staying. Of course room service is extra, and so are any special services you might ask of "housekeeping".

In a place where you are paying several hundreds a night, the tip would be higher as well, since you would be a "high roller".

LOL.

I have never tipped a maid when staying in a hotel. It's not like tipping the belhop, valet service, waiter/waitress. I wouldn't even worry about it.

Probably about 15 dollars (15 percent tip like at a restaurant)

sometimes you don't need to

Typically $1-2 per day.

Depends what country you're in. Usually 1-2 dollars is ok.
